A dawn sky of balloons over the valleys of Cappadocia

Cappadocia Photo Gallery

Everything below was photographed here, on the ground, in the places our tours actually go — no stock library, no AI, no filters pretending the sky was better than it was.

Through local eyes

Cappadocia, as our guests see it

Every photograph here was taken on the ground in Cappadocia — no stock, no filters, no AI. Click any picture to enlarge it.

These are Cappadocia photos taken on the ground by the people who guide here. We publish them for a practical reason as much as a pretty one: travellers deciding whether to come deserve to see what the place actually looks like, in ordinary light, rather than a colour-graded fantasy that sets them up for disappointment.

You will find the balloons at dawn, the painted vaults of the Göreme cave churches, the carved depths of Derinkuyu underground city, the tall chimneys of Love Valley, the potters of Avanos and the village kitchens in between. Every one of these places sits on a tour we run — most of them on the Red Tour or the Green Tour.

A note on the light, since photographers ask: almost nothing here was shot between 10am and 4pm. Cappadocian tuff is flat and white under a high sun and glows like an ember an hour before sunset. If your own photographs matter to you, plan around that — our photography tour exists for exactly this reason, and the best time to visit guide covers how the light changes through the year.
